William Cumming, an Augusta born planter and officer. According to the 2010 census, Cumming had a population of 5,430 and was estimated to have 6,225 people in 2016. Each year, the city hosts a variety of events and attractions geared towards bolstering the small town community. For anyone wanting to experience one of the largest displays of steam tractors in the world, Cumming Fairgrounds hosts its annual 4th of July Parade.

Employment Opportunities

Cumming is an extraordinary place to live, play and work, and its home county has obtained national recognition for this as well. In 2013, Forbes ranked Forsyth County as one of the fastest growing counties in the nation, ranking 7th in its top 10 list; its ranking was primarily due to the host of 8,000-plus locally owned businesses. Increasing in size since 1995, when it was Georgia’s 30th largest school district, Forsyth County Schools has kept growing and has a projected full-time student enrollment of 47,500 by October 2017. It is an international leader in BYOT, also known as Bring Your Own Technology, an effective practice that encourages students to bring in and use their personal technology in school for learning. It currently consists of 21 elementary schools, 10 middle schools and 21 high schools. There are 6 projected schools for development, including Denmark High School, which will be opening its doors in 2018.

Forsyth County has a variety of well-maintained parks, such as Fowler Park, Central Park and Cumming City Park. For those wanting to get out of the sun, the Fowler Park Recreation Center and Central Park Recreation Center are open for anyone wanting to exercise indoors with amenities such as indoor tracks, weight rooms and gymnasiums. The city also hosts a variety of events for its residents, like the popular Touch a Truck and Child Safety Event, offered by Safe Kids Forsyth and the Forsyth County Fire Department. This event offers parents and caregivers the opportunity to have their child safety seats inspected while their children get to have an up-close look at a fire truck.
