WellCare recommends vaccinating all babies even though most babies are born with some natural protection from existing diseases; they do still need vaccination irrespective of whether the mother is breastfeeding or not. Vaccines all work in the similar fashion, they trick the body into thinking that an infection is present and thus the body’s immune system is taught how to fight it. From that point on the body remembers how to make the antibodies that fight such infection and prevent future development. It is highly unlikely that a vaccinated child could develop the disease for which he/she is being vaccinated for. There are indeed some vaccines which have side effects or for which the child could develop a reaction, however, these are very small risks compared to not vaccinating your children.

As a plan member of WellCare, you will receive detailed information about lead poisoning. Lead can be extremely harmful to children under the age of six since their bodies easily absorb lead and once absorbed it can have detrimental effects on their growing brains as well as other body organs. It is highly recommended that your primary care provider should do a lead test at 12 months and 24 months of age. Subsequent screenings should be considered until six years of age. This is, even more, the case if a sibling or playmate has been diagnosed with lead poisoning or they live with anyone who works at a job or let me be found.

WE ACCEPT ALL INSURANCES

Omega Pediatrics Difference: At Omega Pediatrics in Roswell we understand the challenges that parents face when their children develop symptoms late in the day or after hours. Many pediatric offices rarely see patients after 4 pm however we are open every weekday up to 9 pm for both appointments and walk-ins. We also have telemedicine via evisits for our known patients. Our clinic is one of the easily accessible pediatric primary care clinics in Roswell and Alpharetta. We provide pediatric primary care to families in the North Fulton area and beyond, serving families that live in Milton, Sandy Springs, Johns Creek, Duluth, Cumming, Woodstock-Canton and beyond.

Immunizations and checkups after-hours: One advantage of switching to Omega Pediatrics for your child’s primary care is that you can bring your child in for immunization or annual checkup after regular business hours. We provide this service because we have passion for what we do and we want to be a comfortable and convenient service, not the ordinary pediatric doctor’s office.
