Quality Care Providers, Inc. (QCPI) as a primary care physician network helps manage the following health care products offered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield Healthcare Plan of Georgia, Inc.:
The Gatekeeper Products, which currently are:
BlueChoice Healthcare Plan, the health maintenance organization (HMO) product; and
BlueChoice Option, the point of service (POS) product; and
The Open Access Products, which currently are:
Blue Direct HMO;
Blue Direct POS; and
Blue Open Access HMO and POS.
The Gatekeeper Products and the Open Access Products are collectively referred to as the “Blue Cross Products”. The Quality Care Providers, Inc. (QCPI) network of Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) participates in the “Blue Cross Products” through their contractual relationship with QCPI which does not involve in any other Blue Cross Products.

Quality Care Providers, Inc. (QCPI)’s HMO Plans

The Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans provided by QCPI are part of the Blue Cross Products offer by Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The HMO plan allows you to choose a Primary Care Physician (PCP) from a network of local physicians provided by QCPI. You will be referred to in-network specialists or hospitals that meet your health needs.

Quality Care Providers, Inc. POS Plans

The Point of Service (POS) plans provided by QCPI are part of the Blue Cross Products offer by Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The company ensures the design and implementation of QCPI’s clinical incentive programs including its Clinical Quality Integration and identifies strategies that increase clinical quality. The QCPI’s point of service plan (POS) is a managed health care plan that combined the features of the HMO plan and that of the PPO plan together. Like an HMO, participants are allowed to designate an in-network physician to be their primary care, provider. More also, like a PPO; if desired, patients are permitted to go outside of the provider network for health care services.

QCPI’s Recruitment of Physicians

The Quality Care Providers, Inc. (QCPI) often engages in a series of comprehensive credentialing process before accepting physicians into their network. Some of the conditions physicians must fulfill before they can be considered for engagement within the QCPI’s network include the verification of the following:
Education and training (must complete a 3-year post-graduate training program in primary specialty)
Licensure status(unrestricted)
DEA License (unrestricted)
Board certification and maintenance of certification
Hospital privileges
Malpractice coverage and history
20 hours direct patient care, 4 days per week
After verification of these items, the company analyzes its network needs and the applying physician’s history, practice, and ability to fulfill the network’s needs. QCPI has several working Committees of the Board which works to ensure the organization meets its goals and objectives which include recruitment of qualify and worthy physicians. Once QCPI accepts you as a physician into its network, the company’s clinical staff may provide a personalized orientation for you.
